SUMMARY:Effect of direct reduction process parameters on DRI re-oxidation behavior
DESCRIPTION:As indicated by the principles of green chemistry, synthesis of materials must be done in a way that avoids hazards. One of the challenges in producing DRI (direct reduced iron) in shaft furnace reactors is ignition of the DRI pellets after discharge. In this study, the oxidation behavior of DRI pellets was examined using different sources of raw iron ore. Each type was reduced in lab using different conditions of reduction temperatures, reducing gas compositions, and pellets’ sizes. After generating reduction curves and comparing the reduction behavior of these pellets, they were exposed to severe oxidizing environment in order to compare how each condition responds to oxidation.
