This results in an opportunity to identify the strong points of certain designs, and to have confidence in installation and operation with reference to particular designers. This paper will define the key features of a well-designed and constructed top fired stove, at the same time identifying the benefits (and problems) of different designs in terms of the stability of refractory construction, burner design, stove efficiency, environmental and CO2 emissions and operational longevity.
