SUMMARY:Conversion of DRI shaft Furnace operation to hydrogen reduction and lower grade pellets from consultancy perspective
DESCRIPTION:Minimization of CO2 emissions required changes in reducing gas composition from mixture of CO and H2 to pure H2. Changes in properties of reducing gas leads to changes in process parameters, furnace productivity, consumption numbers and quality of product. Phenomenological analysis of furnace operation was performed to analyze furnace operation with H2 as pure reducing gas. Similarity numbers were evaluated and expected changes in furnace performance were estimated. Influence of lower grade pellets on furnace performance was also analyzed and potential furnace parameters were studied. These findings are used to consult DRI plants on expected changes in DRI furnace performance.
